Vivo is planning to announce a Galaxy Z Fold 4 competitor next month
This information has been shared by Digital Chat Station, via Weibo. He did not really share much information about the device, though. Based on the name, though, we presume it will be somewhat similar to the Vivo X Fold. The Vivo X Fold launched in April, and it’s still limited to China. Vivo opted not to launch it outside its homeland, but the ‘S’ model may see a different faith. If we had to guess, we’d say this phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Its name suggests this will be a successor to the Vivo X Fold, but not the next-gen one for 2023. We’re expecting a very similar design and specs, with an upgraded SoC, and probably some other upgrades.
The Vivo X Fold was a solid offering, but limited to China
The Vivo X Fold managed to attract a lot of attention to itself when it launched earlier this year. The phone offers a really nice design, and a powerful set of specs. The only issue was its availability, of course. That’s the issue with most foldables from Chinese companies. They remain exclusive to China, which allows Samsung to operate almost without competition in global markets. The upcoming OPPO foldables will change that, and hopefully this Vivo phone as well. We’re expecting both of its displays to offer a 120Hz refresh rate, and both of them will be AMOLED panels. Based on the Vivo X Fold, the main display will be at least 8 inches, and the cover panel around 6.5 inches. LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage is expected, along with four cameras on the back of the device. Zeiss optics will also be a part of the package, as will stereo speakers. The Vivo X Fold offered 66W wired, 50W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging. We’re expecting this phone to at least match that, if not improve upon it. We’ll see.
