According to the official statement, the company has found the root cause of those issues. However, it isn’t rolling out a fix just yet. Community Manager Camille V. says Google will now release a new update for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro by “late January” this year. It will bring fixes for the bugs that the previous release introduced. The upcoming update will include all the new features and improvements that were originally planned for last month’s release. There are plenty of them as the December update was the first Feature Drop for Google’s latest flagships.
The first Feature Drop for the Pixel 6 duo was bug-ridden
Soon after Google released the December update to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, early adopters started reporting various sorts of issues on their phones. Though not officially confirmed, the company presumably suspended the rollout following these reports since the update has yet to reach many devices. Now, the confirmation has finally come. According to Google, a connectivity bug is causing phone calls to automatically drop or disconnect. Some users have also reported other issues, but this appears to be the biggest problem. Unfortunately, for those who have already installed the December update and are experiencing this connectivity issue, they will have to live with it for a few more weeks, until the fix arrives. Alternatively, you can revert to the previous software build using the Android Flash Tool (flash.android.com). This will require a manual flash of an older build, causing a full system wipe. Meaning, you will have to perform a factory reset of your device, which will wipe all your data. So don’t forget to create a full backup before going this route. If you’re lucky enough to avoid any bugs on your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro unit after installing the December update, you don’t need to do anything. But you’d still want to update to a new patch as soon as it’s available. Hopefully, Google will not take much longer now.
