According to The Streamable, the “Netflix Hub” buyers from Walmart stores will receive a Walmart-exclusive Netflix Streaming Gift Card and merchandise and snacks related to some popular Netflix movies and shows like “Stranger Things,” “Squid Game,” “The Witcher,” and the upcoming “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.” “I have so many fond memories of perusing the movie aisle looking for the perfect film to watch with my family on movie night, sometimes sneaking a bag of candy or popcorn into the cart along the way,” Walmart VP Frank Barbieri said. “This is something I thought my kids would never experience until now.”
Walmart to launch Netflix Hub packages in nationwide stores
Customers will also find a “Stranger Things” concession box and advent calendar, and “Squid Game” Funko Pops in the package. Additionally, new products related to popular Netflix shows will arrive at Walmart stores every season. “We are so excited to continue bringing exclusive experiences and fan-favorite products to our customers where and when they are shopping,” Barbieri said. “So, head in store, snag a Stranger Things T-Shirt or Concession Kit (or both!), and let’s get streaming.” Walmart has strong ties with streaming platforms and recently added Paramount+ to its Walmart+ membership program. Besides Netflix and Paramount+, the retailer giant was reportedly in talks with Comcast and Disney for a possible partnership. Though some sources have recently reported that Walmart wants to build an exclusive streaming service, and it has started negotiating with major content providers. Till now, Walmart had some unsuccessful attempts to enter the streaming market. First, they acquired the American streaming service Vudu in 2010, but the platform was eventually sold without any tangible achievement. The retailer giant also sells streaming boxes under the Onn brand.
