A major issue with social media is reposting. A person can spend hours creating an animation or editing a photo just for another account to steal it and post it in five minutes. It’s a slap to the face of the creators, as a repost account has an endless reservoir of content to scrape from other accounts and post. It’s even worse when the thief account doesn’t credit the original creator.
Well, The new Instagram ranking should help out original content creators
Mosseri didn’t go too far into the details about what this will involve. He said that this ranking change is specifically focused on original content creators. “If you create something from scratch, you should get more credit than if you are resharing something that you found from someone else.” This should be music to content creators’ ears. If you did make something from scratch, it’s always infuriating seeing that thing you made on someone else’s account. The situation only gets worse if your content is doing better on the thief account than on yours. While it’s hard to know just what the company is going to do, it’s easy to speculate. If the algorithm detects two bits of content that are too similar to one another, it may promote the first one more than the second one. That’s just speculation, however.

In Other Instagram News: Instagram Could Remove The ‘Recent’ Tab From Hashtag Search Results
When you search hashtags on Instagram, you’re shown three tabs: Top, Recent, and Reels. Instagram just removed the Recent tab for a few people. It’s testing this out on a limited selection of users to see if it should roll this out to the public. The Top tab shows the most popular results while the Reels tab only shows you the Reels for that tag. The Recent tab shows you the posts starting with the most recently posted content. There’s no telling what the company will do at this point, as it’s still testing it out.
