So, why would people complain about the desktop version of Instagram when the mobile version exists? Well, people often use the web version of Instagram in order to multitask. This is for more serious Instagram content creators- or more addicted Instagram content consumers.
The Instagram for web redesign makes it more user-friendly obviously,
The previous design for Instagram web wasn’t well-optimized for computers. It was just Instagram slapped on a larger screen. Think of it as Android for tablets previously. However, with the redesign, Instagram for web makes better use of the additional real estate. You still get a vertical scrolling feed of content. However, you’ll see certain UI elements placed across the screen. There’s the side panel on the left with your Home, Search, Explore, Messages, Notifications, Create Post, and profile buttons. Under that, you will see a hamburger-style menu that gives you access to your settings and saved content, lets you report a post, switch accounts, and log out. On the right side, you will see your profile button again, with suggested accounts to follow below. As for the feed itself, it resembles the feed on the mobile version. The new Stories are up top with the content below. You still have the three-button menu options for each post that let you share, report, embed, etc. The only thing that seems to be missing is the ability to change the feed. We only see the main feed, but no option to view your following feed or your favorites feed. In any case, the interface looks a lot better, so if you are an Instagram for web user, then you should definitely check out the new redesign.
