The process is not that complicated at all, but some people may need help with it regardless, which is perfectly understandable. Considering Spotify’s layout, you can easily end up sharing album art instead of the song itself. That’s why we’ll provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to do it, while you’ll also find some screenshots below, to guide you along the way.
How to share Spotify music on an Instagram story
The first thing you’ll need to do is open Spotify, of course. Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to find a song you’d like to share. In this example, we’ll hit the ‘Search’ option at the bottom of the display.
Once the next page opens, you can start searching for the song you’d like to share. In our example, that will be Bon Jovi’s She Don’t Know Me.
Once you’ve typed in the name of the song, or part of it, and the song pops up below, tap on it.
The song you searched for will open on the next screen, and start playing. What you need to do at this point is look for a search button below playback controls, not above them. It’ll be located in the bottom-right corner almost, as shown below.
Once you tap on it, a search menu will open. Find Instagram in it (you may need to hit ‘More’ in order to do so), and tap it.
A new menu will open, for Instagram, and you’ll see the ‘Your story’ option, select it.
There you go, a new story has been created with the song you selected. You can navigate to ‘Your Story’ to see it.
There you go, the song you selected was published as your regular Instagram story would. People who open your story will be able to navigate to that song on Spotify with ease, as you can see in the image provided below. ‘Play on Spotify’ link is available below your Instagram handle.
