Doing that is not difficult, not at all. All you need to know is where to find the option, and that’s exactly what we’ll show you here. Below, you’ll find a step-by-step guide on how to find this option, and choose your preference. You’ll also find some screenshots below, to help guide you on your way.
How to choose photo upload quality on WhatsApp
The first thing you need to do is fire up WhatApp, of course. Launch the app from your phone. Once you’re in, on the main page, tap the three vertical dots in the top-right corner.
From there, you’ll need to tap on the ‘Settings’ option, which is the last one in the pop-up menu.
Now that you’re on the Settings page, choose the ‘Storage and data’ option to proceed.
You’ll need to navigate to the ‘Photo upload quality’ menu here. On some phones, you may need to scroll down to see it, but it’s the last option on the list.
A new pop-up menu will open, with the photo upload quality settings. You can choose between Auto, Best quality, and Data saver options. The first option will allow WhatsApp to decide, the second will upload the photo with the highest possible resolution. The last option will use more aggressive compression to reduce data usage.
There you have it. This gives you a lot of control over image sending, which is not something we can say for a lot of apps. Facebook Messenger, for example, another one of Facebook’s apps, compressed images quite considerably. They end up looking normal on your end, but on the other end, not so much. You can avoid that thanks to this option.
