The Mandalorian AR app will be removed on October 31, 2021
The Mandalorian AR app was called the “next-generation augmented reality app optimized for 5G devices” by Google, Disney, and Lucasfilm. This AR app was limited to a few devices, including the Google Pixel 4a 5G and 5, Samsung’s latest phones, as well as devices from HTC (Desire 21 Pro 5G). It also included phones from LG, Motorola, OnePlus, Oppo, Sharp, Sony, TCL, and Xiaomi. It was introduced by Google in late November last year and was served to users in different countries. The AR app brought popular characters from the web show directly to your private space. Moreover, it allowed users to capture images with the characters and share them with others for fun. Users could even interact with the AR characters from The Mandalorian using this AR app. However, according to the Play Store description, the app is available through October 31, 2021. After which, the app will say goodbye and will be removed from the Play Store. This move is not all of a sudden. Because back with the launch of this AR app, Google itself gave the timeline that the app will be available starting from November 23, 2020, and will pack up on October 31, 2021. The Mandalorian AR app made use of the ARCore’s Depth API and new characters were introduced weekly.
