According to SamMobile (via Android Authority), the carrier-branded variants of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G in the U.S. are getting the firmware version F707USQS2DUL1. Meanwhile, customers of the unlocked variants will see the version number jump to F707U1UES2DUL1. The December 2021 patch for the 2020 foldable also includes the usual set of device stability improvements. Bugs and security vulnerabilities have been fixed as well. The update notification should arrive shortly for device owners in the U.S. If it hasn’t, you can head over to Settings – Software update to check for it manually.
U.S. variants of the Galaxy A50 are also getting the December 2o21 security update
Also in the U.S, the carrier-locked Galaxy A50 is getting the December 2021 security patch. Similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 5G update, it fixes a bunch of bugs and brings stability improvements. The update is currently rolling out to Sprint and Comcast variants of the Galaxy A50 (via SamMobile) and features the firmware version A505USQSHDUK1. This new security update speaks volumes about Samsung’s commitment to its smartphones. The company is also on course to send the One UI 4 update to the Galaxy Z Fold 5G in early 2022. Although customers may have to wait for a couple of months as the company concludes the rollout of the update for its recent flagships. In related news, Samsung commenced the broader rollout of the One UI 4 update for its 2021 flagships this week. The company was forced to pause and restart the update at least twice due to bugs. It now seems like the Korean smartphone giant has finally managed to resolve the issues that plagued the initial rollout. One UI 4 is undoubtedly the most sought-after update among Samsung device owners. Meanwhile, the company is also working on the next iteration, known as One UI 4.1. The company will likely bring the new software to the Galaxy S22 lineup in February. A Samsung community moderator recently claimed that devices in the Galaxy S21 series, as well as 2020’s Galaxy Note 20, would receive the One UI 4.1 update by February 2022. Although the update could reach South Korea first, other regions should follow later. The features of One UI 4.1 are currently unknown. But with the release of the Galaxy S22 lineup just over a month away, the mystery won’t take long to unravel.
