Samsung may entirely stop shipping the same device with two different processors
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 may be getting the same processor globally, but Samsung has a habit of shipping its flagship products with different chipsets in different regions. The likes of the Galaxy S22 series feature Snapdragon processors in the US and a few other markets but ship with an Exynos chipset in Europe. This practice has attracted wide criticism but the Korean firm has been doing it for years. Even though there has been a notable performance gap between Snapdragon and Exynos solutions. It needs to stop doing this, and there’s some hope that it will soon. Rumors are that the next-gen Galaxy S23 series will not use Exynos processors. Samsung reportedly plans to ship the devices with Qualcomm’s unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset globally. The company is rethinking its Exynos chipsets after widely documented shortcomings over the years. This is a change that everyone would welcome. After all, Qualcomm has made the best flagship smartphone processors for years and it’s only fitting that the best Android smartphones use those processors.
