If you take a look at the video below the article, you’ll get a great look at this device. Do note that this is just a concept, not a leak of any kind.
This BlackBerry Passport 2 concept actually resembles the original, and looks great
That being said, if you’re familiar with the original, you’ll notice that this phone resembles it quite a bit. It has that recognizable passport-size design, with a spacious physical QWERTY keyboard, and a square (or close to it) display.
There are two cameras included on the back, both of which are a part of the same camera island. They’re centered, and vertically aligned, along with an LED flash that sits below them. BlackBerry logo is included both on the front and back side of the device. The designer envisioned this phone to have wide-angle, and ultrawide angle cameras on the back. The top bezel is thinner than it was on the original, by the way. You’ll also notice a Type-C USB port at the bottom. It is worth noting that the designer didn’t really go overboard here. He only modernized the device, in a way, it still looks like the BlackBerry Passport, very much so.
The designer also envisioned water and dust resistance for this device
Water and dust resistance, via IP67 rating, has also been envisioned for the phone. It would actually be interesting to see how many people would be interested in something like this, presuming it runs Android, of course. Many of you know that BlackBerry is no longer making smartphones, but OnwardMobility has the license to do so. The company is actually planning to announce the BlackBerry 5G 2021 at some point this year. That is, at least, something that the company said a while back. The company also said that we can expect a top-of-the-line camera to be included in the device. It will be interesting to see what will OnwardMobility come up with.
