When you’re looking for something on your phone, but you don’t want to go digging through the software, you can easily search for it. Just summon the app drawer and tap on the search bar right up top. There, you can type any search query and have it pop up right away. Some searches will show you things you can do in the app, as well.
Android 13 will let you search Google Photos from the launcher
In the latest Android 13 developer preview, users were treated to a pleasant surprise. When they typed in a search in the app drawer, they saw that pictures from Google Photos would pop up. When you search, you’re greeted with the list of apps that most fit the description followed by a list of apps that are similar. In between those lists, you’ll see a selection of photos that match the search query, as well. In the screenshots, we see that when the letter “s” was typed in, along with the app results, the system pulled up the screenshots album. It’s hard to say if the system will search for albums rather than individual pictures. While that’s true, it’s still a useful tool to have. What’s more useful is the ability to access additional actions for the images. In another screenshot, we see the share option pulled for one of the images.
What else is new with Android 13?
When you’re using Android 12, you notice that the media player notification card shows the album art as a small icon. Well, in Android 13, that will change. There will be a new media player notification. The new notification will be larger compared to the one in Android 12 and the album art will encompass the entire notification.
